Charlotte has been enjoying her books lately, both pulling them off the shelves and sitting down to look at them. She really likes this photo album we put together. She got her bunny slippers for Christmas, and they are nice in this really cold weather.
We made the mistake of leaving the cereal box with Charlotte for a minute on Christmas morning.
We had a fun Christmas with Charlotte. She opened lots of presents and seems to be enjoying her new toys.
Charlotte is 1 today! We had a busy day doing last-minute Christmas errands and going for a walk.

And she loved her first cake. We got her a maple cake with maple frosting. She ate an entire piece and made a giant mess.
Other than some version of “Daddy” or “Dad,” Charlotte’s first word was “mop” the other night when Brian took the mop out. She said it a few times in a row, with varying degrees of accuracy.
Charlotte is obsessed with blueberries. She would eat an entire container in a sitting if we let her.

Some of her other favorite things to eat are broccoli, zucchini, black beans, Goldfish, olives and macaroni and cheese. She likes anything salty or with some spice to it. Charlotte is so far not a fan of whole milk, although she has started drinking it if we mix it with a lot of water (and still refer to it as water).
We got some snow over the weekend and it’s been cold ever since, after a nice mild November. We bundled Charlotte up pretty well, although she couldn’t move very well with all her gear on. And her boots are already too small and kept falling off.
We think Charlotte may be practicing for the gymnastics floor exercise at the Olympics. According to Brian (who does bath time every night), this is a regular ritual before her bath.

Charlotte has been eating nonstop the past few days–we figure it’s either because of a growth spurt or the learning to walk, or both.
