Charlotte models her new hat

We got around to posting more pictures from Spain on Flickr, here.
We made it home from Spain yesterday all in one piece, without losing anything or any of us getting sick. We had so much fun! Charlotte was a great little traveler. Her favorite pastime seems to be staring at strangers, so she was totally entertained on planes and trains, and walking around everywhere we went. People in Spain are really into babies, so Charlotte had a lot of admirers. We went to Madrid, Seville, and Granada.
This is us at the Alhambra, in Granada:
The weather was really nice, so we ate outside almost every meal.
This was at the huge park in Madrid.
Charlotte liked playing on the beds in our hotel rooms:
She spent a lot of time in her stroller, which was sometimes a rough ride over the cobblestones.
We also put her facing outward in the Baby Bjorn a lot, which she really liked since she could see much better.
Charlotte spends a lot of her time lately rolling around on the floor. She’s getting better and better at rolling although she still gets her arm stuck sometimes. She is usually pretty pleased with herself once she gets onto her stomach, but then gets mad that she can’t go anywhere.
She’s started noticing her feet more, especially in these new socks we got last weekend.
And Charlotte likes chewing on anything she can stick in her mouth, like this bunny–she especially likes the tag.
Charlotte is four months old! Well, she’s almost four and a half months old at this point, but she just had her four-month doctor’s visit last week. She got some more shots and was pretty cranky this time around too, although she didn’t really get a fever like she did with the two-month shots.
Charlotte weighs just about 13 pounds now, which puts her in the 50th percentile for weight and height for her age.
We leave for Spain on Thursday! Brian and I are really excited about the trip. Packing is a challenge–Charlotte is definitely going to have more stuff in the suitcase than we do.
It’s officially spring in New England, at long last. This past week was mostly sunny, and we actually had a 93-degree day on Tuesday–so unusual for April! Charlotte and I went to Castle Island in South Boston and sat in the shade by the fort. It was really nice, although it is a little strange not having to bundle Charlotte up in five layers. I don’t quite know how to dress her for spring/summer. I think she likes being outside, although she isn’t a big fan of wind.
Charlotte rolled over from her back to her stomach last week, which was a fun milestone except it means we can’t swaddle her anymore, since she could end up trapped on her face. So, we went cold turkey with no swaddle and had one really rough night where she was up every two hours. But it’s gotten better each night, and the last two nights she slept from 8 or 9 till 5 wearing just a sleep sack with her arms free. That is actually better than how she was sleeping before. Naptimes are still hard for her to get and stay asleep unswaddled, although today she fell asleep fine in her crib.
We went to my parents’ last weekend for Charlotte’s first Easter. She got an Easter basket at home and at Nana and Papa’s, with some fun books, bath toys and a stuffed bunny.
Here’s Charlotte with Papa:
Otherwise we’ve been getting out for some nice walks in the spring weather and hanging out in Roslindale. Last night we went out for an early dinner with Charlotte and actually got to sit outside on the patio.
Today Charlotte got dressed up for a birthday party, for my friend Julia’s little boy who turned one.
